The old school thought of 100,000 is wrong, especially these days. 100,000 really wasn't the death knell back in the day, but people tended to stay away from cars with 100,000 plus miles. In fact, some Chevy models have driven so many miles you might not actually believe it. Here are some of the top mileage records reported by Chevy owners: 1.2 Million Miles. Perhaps the most astonishing record set by a Chevy vehicle is the 1.2 million miles that a 2006 Chevy Silverado 3500 gave a couple over seven years. When the feat was. Getting a used truck is also a great investment. Many pickups have very low depreciation rates, so you won’t have a problem selling the vehicle when it’s time to upgrade.

Chevy Silverados are durable and most will last 20 years or over 200,000 miles with no major technical issues. However, the Silverado has above average maintenance costs and lower fuel efficiency. It also has a lower reliability rating compared to the Ford F-150. 1998 chevy 1500 z71 plow truck 170k sold it in still running. In the past it was unheard of for a vehicle to last beyond 100k miles especially a 4 cylinder engine--now it is common and it is. The newest ones are built to last with no major work being done about 100,000 miles. If you follow their extended oil change recommendations probably less then that. If you don’t undercoat it you will have rust forming on the frame and under the b... While many F-150s fly past the 100,000-mile mark without any issues, that doesn’t mean there aren’t problem spots. For example, in 2011 Ford introduced its Ecoboost engine in the F-150. This engine made a lot of promises and, for the most part, it delivered. In fact, there are reports of this engine lasting over 200,000 miles.

With proper maintenance 200,000 is no big deal. Have the trans serviced. It will last much longer that way. GM transmissions are much better than they were in the past. A friend of mine has chevy Colorados and 1500 Silverados for his business. He is careful to do maintenance on them. They are driven by employees so thats not good for them. These are difficult questions to answer, considering that mileage alone isn't the only indicator of a car's longevity. A person could drive 30,000 miles a year (the average is 15,000) and rack up miles pretty quickly, but someone who drives very little will still see their car age when the interior fades and rubber parts begin to dry. Plus, certain parts are expected to be replaced over time. 2013 with 29,3xx miles, bought it last August with 26,035 on it. My old man's '96 Z71 has 240k on it, but he just upgraded to a 2012 Sierra two weeks ago. I'm going to be sad to see that truck go to someone else. I drove it for awhile in college when I was between trucks. Still runs like a champ, the body is falling off of it though. My trucks got over 210,000 miles on it. I was trying to sell it but then someone keyed it so I had to get it totally repainted. I have a 2000 Silverado with a 4.8L and manual transmission, 245k miles and counting. 6k doesn't sound too bad as long as the body is in good shape and everything still works. All evidence points to the fact that you can't do much better than a Silverado if you want something that's reliable and long-lived.
